50-year-old Magnus Carlsson from Skövde can become the next Swede to take a place in the Guinness Book of Records, after he drove a motorcycle over 200 km/h – on a wheel, with the legs on the handlebars.
– I just roared out of happiness, for me this is so big, says
Traffic teacher Magnus Carlsson has been a big fan of speed and wind since his youth. The idea of riding a motorcycle on one wheel came at a young age, after he saw the stunt in a motorcycle magazine.
– From that moment I couldn’t let it go, so I went home and trained. Since then, the dream has been to get over 200 kilometers per hour. It has been a goal for many years, says Magnus Carlsson.
Getting all the steps done, and succeeding in gearing up – is a challenge. Behind the record are thousands of hours of training, and it is not without risk.
– The difficult thing in this case is to get up to a sufficiently high speed. It is relatively easy to get up to 170 kilometers per hour. That’s where the problems begin.
Get up to 202.67 km/h
But on Saturday morning, Magnus managed to reach 202.67 km/h at Skaraborg airport. He drove a distance of 1.3 kilometers on one wheel, sitting on the tank, with his feet on the handlebars.
– I just roared out of happiness, for me this is so big. It’s the best crap out there.
Now he beats the previous world record in the Guinness Book of Records held by Briton Jonny Davies, who reached 175.79 km/h. Whether Magnus Carlsson gets an appearance in the book remains to be seen.
– We have followed all the Guinness rules, there are a lot of proof requirements that must be reviewed before it is approved. As far as I know, I am the first to reach 200 kilometers per hour.
