Vincenzo La Porta, a suspected mafia member believed to have close links to the Camorra, has been arrested by police. He was spotted in a picture during a restaurant visit on the island of Corfu, where he celebrated the home team Napoli winning Italy’s top league championship earlier this summer.

“He was betrayed by his passion for football and for Napoli,” Italian police said in a statement.

According to the police, La Porta is on Italy’s list of the country’s 100 most dangerous fugitives. In the picture, he can be seen holding up a scarf in the home team’s sky blue colours.

Through the image, the police were able to identify and arrest the man, who is in his 60s and has been on the run for 16 years.

The suspected mafia member has previously been sentenced in absentia for, among other things, tax evasion and fraud, according to the police. Italy now wants the man extradited.
