The departure of Hangar 13’s president, Haden Blackman, has revealed that Mafia 4 is still in development.
Haden Blackman, the longtime head of Hangar 13, has resigned from his position. This departure is a big change for the company that makes Mafia games for 2K. It has been announced that Nick Baynes, UK studio head of 2K, Hangar 13 Brighton, will become the new head of the studio.
Mafia 4 is under development
Blackman, a former game producer for LucasArts, launched Hangar 13 in 2014 in Novato, California. Blackman and his team made the highly acclaimed Mafia III game. The studio has also released a remake of the original Mafia trilogy.
2K Games announced yesterday that Haden Blackman, head of Hangar 13, is leaving production of Mafia games after seven years. At the same time, a former employee of LucasArts (Haden Blackman) shared an e-mail with the words “I’m going to start a new venture following my passion” with his employees.
2K posted a thank you note for Haden, which reads, “What Haden helped build will continue to progress and grow in the years to come. We support all our employees who follow their passions and wish them the best in the future.” part was remarkable.
Another piece of information not included in the statement was the departure of Hangar 13 operations manager Matthew Urban from the studio. “An amazing journey on H13…let’s see what’s next,” Matthew shared on his LinkedIn account.
