(Finance) – It has just ended a London there Clerkenwell Design weekthe most important English event for the design and theinterior architecture, which takes place precisely in the Clerkenwell district. The event, which has come to its 12th editionwas created to celebrate and give visibility to British creativity, within an event that saw the participation of more than 300 brands and almost 150 showrooms, all grouped into 12 thematic itineraries and animated by almost 600 events.
Despite an apparent resemblance to our Fuorisalone, the Clerkenwell design week has its own identity and an inevitably British. The location was obviously not chosen at random, in fact this neighborhood has, according to the organizers, the highest density in the world of studios, showrooms and shops related to the world of design and furnishings. Kitchen, outdoor, coverings, lighting and british collection are some of the themes that enlivened the neighborhood during the three-day event, while the inflatable installations by Steve Messam they contributed to the urban furniture.
Developed around the historic Hospitallers’ Gate of St John, Clerkenwell has two other interesting features besides its design: it is very rich in churches, having been an area occupied by a monastery in the Middle Ages, and is known as the little italy English, hosting the largest number of Italian businesses of the whole city.
Also for the Clerkenwell Design Week the Italian presence it was not lacking, in fact the event in recent years has taken on an international character, and many have arrived alongside the showrooms exhibitors from France, Spain, Belgium and Italy, including Propellera well-known brand of extractor hoods and hobs, and an entire pavilion coordinated by Confindustria dedicated to Italian ceramics and marbles.
What makes this event unique, however, is the ability to present products of unique and particular furnishings within a background steeped in British tradition and historicity. There formula in fact it seems to reward the organization, and even if the offer does not offer visitors the presence of the most famous and high-sounding brands in the sector, which are instead present at other fairs, the Clerkenwell Design Week, in its three days, manages to stimulate a ‘wide and varied audience, especially professional, which is becoming more and more interesting also for non-UK companies.
