Madagascar: objective of “electrifying” 80% of the population by 2030

Madagascar objective of electrifying 80 of the population by 2030

On the occasion of the African Energy Summit held in Tanzania on January 27, an event from the World Bank and the African Development Bank (BAD) intended to accelerate access to electricity on the continent, Madagascar A presented its national energy pact. This roadmap links the State, donors and the private sector for the first time in a common implementation of the country’s energy policy. The text fixes an ambitious course by targeting more than the doubling, in just five years, of the number of beneficiaries of electricity. This would make it possible to go from 36% of the population, currently, to 80% of the 31 million Malagasy in 2030 and thus offer half of the population a clean or improved cooking mode.
