Dutch Agriculture Minister Piet Adema, in a letter he presented to the Dutch Parliament, reported that a case of mad cow disease was found in a dead cow in a farm in the country and the farm where the cow was found was quarantined.
Stating that the cow in question is not included in the food chain, Adema stated that the case will not have consequences for the consumer.
The last case of mad cow disease in the Netherlands was seen in 2011.
Mad cow disease, which is known as BSE in medical terminology and emerged in England in the 1980s, can cause fatal brain disease in people who consume the meat of the animal, as well as lethal for animals. (AA)
