Emmanuel Macron is preparing for a trip to the United States and a meeting with Donald Trump, and he comes up with a message: Don’t fold you down against Russia’s president.
– I will tell him: it is not possible to be weak (in negotiations) with Vladimir Putin. It is not who you are, it is not your brand, it is not in your interest, says the French president before the meeting with his American colleague.
Macron says he will speak for Europe when he meets Trump in Washington DC on Monday, and then tells his host that it is in the US interest in working with European democracies. But also that “we Europeans must increase our war effort”.
For Russia will not stop at Ukraine, if Putin is allowed to win the war, Macron warned.
“The country will not only be stronger, they will also take over the Ukrainian military, one of Europe’s largest, with all the equipment, including American, that would be a big strategic mistake,” he said.
In a live broadcast video broadcast published on social media, where he answered questions, Macron further emphasized that Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskyj was chosen in a free choice.
“That is not the case with Vladimir Putin, who has killed his opponents and manipulated his choices for a long time,” said the Frenchman in response to Trump’s claim that Zelenskyj is a “dictator”.
