This week, the news that caught the attention of La Loupe is the maintenance of a terrorism memorial museum. In the middle of a week of tributes to the victims of the attacks of Charlie Hebdo and Hyper Cacher, Emmanuel Macron confirmed this project which was almost abandoned. But behind the memorial dimension, a political, financial and historical battle is being played out. Story by Agnès Laurent, senior reporter at L’Express.

Charlotte Baris: It was 10 years ago. For almost a week at the start of 2015, France plunged into fear. On January 7, two terrorists attacked the premises of Charlie Hebdo in Paris, killing twelve people and injuring eleven others. The hunt for the Kouachi brothers will last two days. At the same time, on January 9, a man took customers of a kosher convenience store hostage. Four will be shot.
This week, France therefore paid tribute to these victims of January 2015. And it is this moment that Emmanuel Macron chose to reaffirm his desire to create a museum-memorial of terrorism. But the matter is much more complex than it seems. To tell us about the turbulent behind-the-scenes of this project, I called on Agnès Laurent, a senior reporter at L’Express, who investigated the subject.
