Lycksele BB will reduce the business already on May 12 this year.
– It was earlier than we thought and hoped. We are very sad for this, says Anna-Lena Renström.
About 70 pregnant women inland are estimated to be food during the period that BB has closed.
– We hope that they will not feel too much concern about it. There are routines for having the birth in Umeå or Skellefteå instead.
The reason is staff shortage.
– We have had incredibly great challenges about the staffing of midwives, it is extremely challenging. We do not get answers to calls and puzzles all the time. It is very difficult to get a sustainability, says Renström.
The closure will apply until August 18. The emergency gynecology will be open in Lycksele until midsummer, then you close for four weeks. Patients are referred to Skellefteå and Umeå.
The delivery in Lycksele has for several years had difficulty with staffing and you usually close during summer and Christmas. According to Region Västerbotten, four newly graduated midwives have been hired in Lycksele after the summer.
