Buffalo Sabers goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen received a handsome honor in the hockey NHL, when the league named the Finnish defenseman last week’s third best player, i.e. three stars.

Sabres’ number one guard Luukkonen saved victories against the Ottawa Senators, New York Rangers and Calgary Flames during the week. The Finnish defender allowed a total of only four goals in the matches, and the save percentage was 95.6.

Luukkonen, 25, has played a total of 11 games in Buffalo’s goal this season with a save percentage of 91.0. The goalkeeper from Hyvinkää makes his debut in Buffalo in the 2020-2021 season. Last season, Luukkonen saved 54 games in the regular season.

The number one star of the NHL week was Winnipeg’s goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, who avoided three wins and two clean sheets. Second-star Colorado forward Nathan MacKinnon scored 1+8=9 power points in three matches.
