Luton captain Tom Lockyer was short on the pitch in the match against Bournemouth.

Captain of Luton Tom Lockyer shortened to the surface of the pitch in the English Premier League soccer match against Bournemouth on Saturday.

Bournemouth scored a 1-1 equalizer in the 58th minute of the match. After that, the match continued with Luton’s kick-off. The team played the ball to their goalkeeper, who played the ball long into Bournemouth’s end of the field. At that point, Central Defender Lockyer was still on his feet.

A moment later, Lockyer was shortened to the surface of the field.

The match was stopped a moment later, and the match will not continue at least today.

British media the Guardian and BBC say Lockyer is alive and conscious.

Lockyer was shortened to the surface of the field in May as well. He only managed to play eight minutes in the Premier League promotion qualifiers. Lockyer was carried off the field on a stretcher.

He was taken to the hospital for further examinations. Lockyer stated at the timethat the situation was “certainly scarier for everyone else but myself”.

According to the BBC, the player suffered from arrhythmia and underwent heart surgery. The permission to return to the fields came in June.

Luton Town FC later announced their captain’s condition on social media.

– Our medical staff has confirmed that Lockyer suffered a cardiac arrest, but he was able to react when he was taken off the field on a stretcher, the release states.

– He first received further treatment inside the stadium, after which Tom was taken to the hospital. His condition is stable and he will undergo more tests.

– We thank everyone for the support, care and loving messages that “Locks” has received.
