Luton captain Tom Lockyer collapsed in the middle of a match against Bournemouth on Saturday December 16 in the Premier League, an incident which led referee Simon Hooper to definitively stop the match counting for the 17th day. The 29-year-old defender fell ill at the hour mark and collapsed on the pitch. The players returned to the locker room, with the score reading 1-1 at the hour mark, while that the player was being cared for by medical teams. The match was then definitively stopped. British media subsequently assured that the Welsh international was conscious when he was evacuated. Lockyer had already collapsed in May at Wembley during the Premier League promotion duel between Luton and Coventry at the end of last season. He then underwent heart surgery.
