Our 1time guest is Carmen Souza for the release of his new album interconnectedness Cape Verde / Portugal.
Of Cape Verdean origin, born in Lisbon and based in London, Carmen Souza is one of the most sought-after jazz singers in Europe. After the disappearance of the most famous of Cape Verdeans, Cesaria Évora, Carmen Souza was designated as one of the archipelago’s music ambassadors. His style is as unique as it is compelling and his Cape Verdean roots as evident as his desire to create a new language under the “World Jazz” label. His tenth album interconnectedness recounts all of our experience of separation during Covid and his realization that all of humanity is connected. It includes 7 new songs and 3 very personal versions of the classics: My Baby Just Cares For Me, Sous Le Ciel de Paris and Pata Pata.

Intuitively, we perceive planet Earth as a place of wonder. 9th Bahian’s solo album Lucas Santana, O Paraiso enjoins us in 10 songs to modify our axes of thought: paradise is here before our eyes. Wounded, it still moves, and we are responsible for its durability, and in part for its constant metamorphosis. Lucas celebrates the living here, and invites us to better understand where we live, and with whom we share this heavenly land. At the big studio, Lucas Santtana will sing 2 tracks from the album.
