You are not allowed to enter, was the message from the guards when TV4’s football expert Olof Lundh and photographer Johan Tarland were to enter the FIFA hotels in Qatar on Sunday.
Fifa president Gianni Infantino opened the championship by holding a high-profile press conference, where he, among other things, handed out the boot to Europe and the West for “hypocrisy” and referred to the questioning of the host nation.
Olof Lundh is on site in Qatar and follows the championship closely. But Infantino and Fifa refuse to do interviews, citing instead that they must be booked, which is not possible.
– They photographed our accreditations, it actually felt a bit scary that you are not allowed to approach them at all. There are several others who have tried to get in, but it is Fifa that has subscribed to this and excludes everyone, they simply want to protect themselves, says Olof Lundh to The soccer channel.
