“Lunar New Year” event starts tomorrow, brings you many old dragons and one new one

The Lunar New Year event is just around the corner in Pokémon GO. We’ll explain to you what Pokémon, bonuses and more it brings with it.

When is the event running? The Lunar New Year event runs from Monday, February 5, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, February 11, 2024 at 8:00 p.m. in Pokémon GO. In addition to a number of well-known Pokémon, there is also a completely new Pokémon as well as interesting bonuses and a global challenge.

What new Pokémon is there in the event? Sen-Long will make his in-game debut in the event. The Dragon and Normal-type Pokémon come from the 7th generation of games. It will also be found in its Shiny form.

    Some of the Pokémon that appear in the event are among the strongest Pokémon in Pokémon GO thanks to their evolutions.

    Which bonuses are active during the event? During the event, the following bonuses are in play:

  • Increased chance of obtaining Lucky Pokémon through trade
  • Increased chance of becoming Lucky Friends
  • You will receive additional candies for good, great and fabulous throws
  • Increased chance of receiving XL candies for good, great and fabulous throws (from level 31)

    • What kind of global challenge is there in the event? The beginning of the event also starts the global challenge Unleashed Dragons, in which you have to work together with all trainers in the world. This is about landing good throws. When a total of 1,000,000,000 good throws have been completed by trainers worldwide, the global challenge has been passed.

    If this is the case, there will be 7 more wild Pokémon, 6 of which can appear in their Shiny form. A 1* raid and a 3* raid will then be added. In addition, 5 Pokémon can learn exclusive attacks if you evolve them. The Pokémon are not yet known, but the types are. These are 2x ground and one each of the fairy, dragon and normal types.

    There will also be fireworks that light up the sky. These bonuses start once the 1,000,000,000 good throws have been successfully completed and end at the end of the event on February 11, 2024 at 8:00 p.m.

    What is included in paid, temporary research? There will also be another paid, limited-time research program for the event. This costs 2 dollars (about 2 €). This includes stardust, experience points, 2 lucky eggs and encounters with Pokémon that match the event.
