Bayer Leverkusen captain Lukas Hradecky was able to historically lift the Bundesliga championship trophy on Saturday.

The championship was secured a long time ago. In the last match, Leverkusen beat Augsburg 2–1 at home, and the celebrations in front of the home crowd got started. The German championship was Leverkusen’s first in its 120-year club history.

Leverkusen’s fairytale season ended undefeated in the Bundesliga. The team won 28 matches and drew six times. It was the first time the Bundesliga title was won without defeat.

Taking all competitions into account, Leverkusen’s streak of unbeaten matches is already 51 matches long. It is the longest in history in Europe’s top 5 leagues.

The season has been made even wilder by the fact that Leverkusen has drawn or won several times in extra time and kept the streak alive.

The Europa League final and the German Cup final are still left in Leverkusen’s season.

In the Bundesliga, VfB Stuttgart finished second and Bayern Munich came third. Leverkusen’s superiority is illustrated by the fact that it collected 90 points, while Stuttgart’s score was 73.

Darmstadt and FC Köln are relegated from the Bundesliga. Bochum has to be relegated from the league place, Union Berlin avoided relegation by scoring a winning goal against Freiburg in extra time.
