CD Lugo took advantage of Wednesday morning to announce the addition, for now only to training sessions, of Najeeb Yakubu. The player, who will turn 22 on May 1, holds dual citizenship of Ghana and Niger and develops as lateral on both sides. He arrives on a free transfer from Vorskla Poltava of the Ukrainian Premier League in accordance with the quota authorized by UEFA of free players for reasons arising from the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Yakubu has been capped under-17 by the Ghana national team, but has also received call-ups for friendly matches with the Niger senior team. With Vorskla Poltava he had played 16 of the 18 games that were played in the Ukrainian league before his suspension, adding 1161 minutes of play. In which he saw three yellow cards.
From CD Lugo it is not clear at the moment if his incorporation into the training of the first team will lead to a file with the team, although it is emphasized that he arrives at training with immediate effect and that possible news will be reported.
