Ludvig Åberg’s unexpected revelation about Armand Duplantis before the Olympics – now points out Mondo without hesitation: “One who is so talented…”

Ludvig Åberg has an unexpected goal during this year’s Olympics.
And it has to do with Armand Duplantis.
– It would have been awesome, says Åberg.

It was just over a year ago that Ludvig Åberg turned professional. Now he goes to the Paris Olympics as one of Sweden’s biggest medal hopes, with a year behind him that few in golf history have been able to match. It has gone very quickly for Sweden’s new golf star, with major debuts in all four competitions, as well as Ryder Cup games, and he has become a big crowd favorite.

“Super awesome”

Åberg’s way of always taking on the challenges on the golf course with a smile, and the speed he always has on the course, have made him many people’s new favorite player. And now he’s going to Paris for his first Olympics, and it means a lot to him.

Armand Duplantis reveals the future plans with Desiré Inglander – he wants to do that after his career: “It would be really cool”

Golf is not played in Paris, but for Åberg it has still been important to get a lot of time there, and to be part of the “real” Olympics.

– It’s a super cool experience that you try to take advantage of. A cool environment, to be able to bump into other athletes and feel part of the event. We plan to spend at least one night here, says Ludvig Åberg to TT.

The tribute to Mondo

According to national team coach Jonnie Eriksson, it is clear how popular Åberg has actually become. He has already been stopped by other athletes who want to take pictures with him. But for Åberg, there is one athlete – despite the presence of superstars like Lebron James and Rafael Nadal – that he really wants to meet, and when he is asked, he answers without thinking for a second.

– I would love to take a selfie with (Armand) Duplantis, it would have been awesome. It would have been interesting to hear a bit about how he tackles a competition. You are impressed by someone who is so talented, he says.

Ludvig Åberg also hopes to see some other sports before golf starts playing on Sunday.

– Especially now Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday when we can plan our days a little more freely. I’m keen to watch the Swedes in handball. We will try to squeeze it in, he says.
