Ludvig Åberg is eleventh in the world ranking and has scored more than one million kroner per round as a professional on the PGA tour.
But in Los Angeles he is overshadowed by Tiger Woods. The golf icon will compete again, also in completely new clothes.
The high-class competition at the Riviera Country Club – only 70 players are allowed to be on the future Olympic course – means the first opportunity for Ludvig Åberg to measure one’s powers with Tiger Woods.
The duo has already been mentioned in the same context several times in the past six months. Most recently the other week when Åberg finished second in the storm-shortened competition at Pebble Beach, a success that saw the blue-yellow shooting star in just 18 starts as a professional climb to eleventh in the world rankings.
Åberg’s great success
The only person to have made an even faster climb at the start of their professional career is – just that – Tiger Woodswhich rose to third place in just 17 weeks.

However, Woods, who turned pro in 1996, cannot match Åberg by a long shot in terms of money recorded during the beginning of his career. The PGA Tour’s greatly increased prize money in recent years is noticeable not least at Riviera – the winner is rewarded with just over SEK 43 million – but also if you add up Ludvig Åberg’s earned prize checks so far.
SEK 61 million
Since he turned pro this summer, the 24-year-old Skåne has played a total of 57 rounds on the PGA Tour – and pulled in just over SEK 61 million. An average salary of just over a million per completed 18-hole, that is.
The article continues after the picture.
When Åberg starts the next golf round, at 18:37 on Thursday evening Swedish time, he has none other than Tiger Woods in the ball right in front of him.
The now 48-year-old legend is attracting attention for more reasons than usual this week. Ever since 1996, the American has played in clothes from the main sponsor Nike, but the long-term collaboration was broken last autumn and on Monday Woods presented his new clothing collection “Sun Day Red” together with Taylor Made.

Aiming for majors
After the photo-surgery last April, he has only competed in his own invitational competition in the Bahamas in December. The hope now is that Wood’s body will last for one competition a month in the near future – including four majors in the period from April to July.
And speaking of majors: The logo on the new apparel brand is a tiger with 15 stripes, one for each title during his career. If there would ever be a 16th major triumph?
– Then we have to redo the brand, says Woods with a smile.
