Europe got revenge – and won the Ryder Cup.
Afterwards, the Swedish debutant Ludvig Åberg was praised by the world elite.
But the Swede himself just made everyone tan with the nicest question to a reporter.
Sweden has a new world star in golf. After a few years in which it was difficult for Swedish men’s players at the absolute top of the world, the situation has quickly changed. Ludvig Åberg wasn’t even a pro before the summer – but has had a rocket career away in the USA, and after being a smash hit during the summer, he was selected for the Ryder Cup.
Åberg’s smash hit
The 23-year-old is one of the golf world’s most hyped players, and he certainly showed why over the weekend. Among other things, Åberg managed, together with Norwegian Viktor Hovland, to take the biggest victory in Ryder Cup history when the duo defeated world number one Scottie Scheffler and five-time major winner Brooks Koepka.
Europe had a dream position to take revenge against the USA in the Ryder Cup after the loss in the USA last time, when they had a clear lead before Sunday’s singles matches. Ludvig Åberg lost his match against an incredibly well-played Brooks Koepka, but Europe won – and afterwards the Swedish debutant was praised to the skies. To SVT, world star Rory McIlroy, among others, said the following:
– To come in here and play the way he did. He has been incredible. I am so proud of him.

Completely unexpected question
Ludvig Åberg himself said that it was a dream come true, and Rory McIlroy was above all happy about Ludvig Åberg’s age.
– He will play the next 15 Ryder Cup tournaments, McIlroy said.
Ludvig Åberg is already many people’s favorite player, and he also got everyone fired up with a smart question to a reporter right after the competition.
The Viaplay reporter Erik Bäckrud, who was in Rome during the competitions, reveals Åberg’s completely unexpected words directly after the competition.
“The first thing Ludvig Åberg says to me after he wins the Ryder Cup: ‘Did you see the scandal yesterday?'” he writes on X.
The scandal in question could have touched on something that happened in the Ryder Cup, but the fact is that Ludvig Åberg is a big football supporter, and especially for Liverpool. On Saturday, Liverpool were robbed of a goal in the big meeting against Tottenham, and that was the first thing that came to Åberg’s mind when he saw Viaplay’s reporter, who also has a football podcast about the Premier League in particular.
