Last year, the Lucid Air sedan was a limited edition with 1,111 horsepower. Dream Edition launched last fall. This was followed earlier this year with the welcomed Grand Touring in the form of the Performance version, which promised a range of 720 km, 1,050 horsepower and 0-100 acceleration in 2.6 seconds. So it actually produced 2 performance models already.

After months of talking about a three-engine version of the Air sedan, Lucid Motors has finally capitulated. The new Lucid Air Sapphire has finally been introduced.
Lucid’s Air becomes tri-engine with Sapphire
Lucid MotorsOfficially unveiled the new three-engine Air at Quail Lodge this morning during Monterey Car Week, and shared details on a new Sapphire brand that Lucid says will be available as an ultra-high-performance version of all its forward-looking EV models. Peter Rawlinson, CEO and CTO of Lucid Group, said:
Last year, Lucid shook the world with the launch of the Lucid Air, a unique combination of range, efficiency, superior driving dynamics and interior space enabled by our in-house technology. Today, with the introduction of the Sapphire line, we take the next logical step forward. The first Lucid product to bear the Sapphire name, Lucid Air Sapphire leverages our technical capability to take electrical high performance to the next level. Sapphirerepresents the pinnacle of electrical performance; I finally got the performance I was looking for for a long time. After painstaking development work, I can confirm that the Lucid Air Sapphire performs satisfactorily, and I believe the most discerning drivers will agree.

new Lucid Air SapphireIt features stiffer springs at the front and rear, unique damping settings, as well as unique tuning features for ABS, traction and stability control. The new three-motor version also comes standard with carbon ceramic brakes to provide the stopping power needed for this type of high-performance driving.
Sapphire’s advanced chassis setup, wider, more aggressive wheels and Michelin PS4S Alongside its tyres, it will offer torque redirection capabilities on graduated Aero Sapphire wheels with removable carbon fiber aero disc wheel covers.
Also keep an eye out for the new Sapphire Blue exterior paint that was introduced in the tri-engine air and should continue to be the defining element of the new ultra performance brand. Derek Jenkins, SVP of brand and design, Lucid Group, said:

Lucid introduces new Sapphire Mojave interior theme
Moving into the cabin of Lucid’s latest Air sedan iteration offers a number of design upgrades to help justify its price tag. This includes new 18-way power sports seats with black leather upholstery and black Alcantara accented with Sapphire Blue stitching.
The headrests nod to the American automaker’s California roots embroidered with the bear logo. The dashboard and doors have Mojave dark wood veneers, while the steering wheel and upper roof structures are accentuated with black Alcantara.
Lucid Air Sapphire Price
Ok how much? Thought Plaid was expensive? Compared to other Air models, Sapphire’s price may seem quite high.
It costs $249,000 and deliveries are scheduled for both countries next year. Lucid Motors states that this three-engine Sapphire-branded version of the Air will be produced as a limited production model, but it is currently unclear in what numbers these electric cars will be produced.
Bookings for the new Air Sapphire will open next Tuesday, August 23.
