Lucia de Carvalho: “My life is a bonus”

Lucia de Carvalho, here at RFI, is looking for Portuguese, Afro-Brazilian but also oriental sounds.

She grew up between Angola, Portugal and France and, even today, her music is nourished by all these influences. Coming from an extremely modest background, the singer Lucia de Carvalho publishes a new album, Pwanga, a term that means “light” in the Chokwe language of Angola. The least we can say is that this title is well chosen.

Lucia de Carvalho will be in concert in Paris on February 11 as part of the Festival Over the voices.
