Former Frölunda player Andreas Johnsson returns to the SHL.
But this time to Skellefteå – how surprising Lucas Raymond.
– I thought he was going to Frölunda, says the Detroit player to Sportbibeln.
Lucas Raymond, 21, arrived in Frölunda and played his first senior seasons at the club. Before the 2021/2022 season, the Gothenburger moved to the NHL and the Detroit Red Wings, by whom he was drafted in 2020.
Follows Frölunda
This year, Raymond is doing his third NHL season, and is currently in Sweden for the games against the Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs during the NHL Global Series. Then the 21-year-old tells us that he follows Frölunda as much as he can, but otherwise there won’t be much SHL for him.

How do you think Frölunda has looked so far this season?
– A bit up and down, but they have a good team. It is a good organization that has been at the top for a very long time, so I think they will solve it, says Raymond to Sportbibeln.
Who do you think will win SM gold?
– Then I get to say Frölunda.
Raymond’s shock
Last week was Andreas Johnson ready for Skellefteå, after breaking the contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Johnsson has previously played in Frölunda, and won SM gold with the club in the 2015/2016 season. He has then spent the past seven years in North America playing in both the AHL and the NHL.

That Johnsson chose Skellefteå with its history in Frölunda was something that surprised Lucas Raymond.
– I don’t know what went into that decision, but I thought he was going to Frölunda. He is from Gothenburg, I met him a lot this summer. He’s a great guy and a great hockey player. But I get it, his brother plays in Skellefteå and that’s probably a big factor. So that it will be fun to see him in the SHL, says Raymond.
