LREM candidate for the legislative elections soon to face Francois

MANUEL VALLS – Former Prime Minister Manuel Valls will be a candidate in the legislative elections on 12th and 19th June next. François Hollande could well imitate him. We will explain everything to you.

[Mis à jour le 3 mai à 18h36] Manuel Valls is making a comeback in French political life: the former Prime Minister will be a candidate in the legislative elections on 12th and 19th June next. Invested by La République en Marche, the party of the presidential majority, he is running in the fifth constituency of French people living abroad, which covers Monaco, Andorra, Portugal and Spain, his native country. Always present in the media landscape, the former resident of Matignon under the five-year term of Francois Hollande should seek a new mandate as a deputy after that of 2017. Five years ago, he had imposed himself in Essonne, his stronghold, before resigning from his mandate to try to stand for municipal elections in the city of Barcelona, in Spain, without success. Until now, this “circo” was already represented in the National Assembly by a deputy of the majority, Stéphane Vojetta.

Manuel Valls has been back in France since this summer, so his return to French political life was expected. When he left France in 2018, he gave a speech in which he revealed his love for France and his attachment to European construction: “I love France, declared Mr. Valls in Catalan and French, during his candidacy speech in Barcelona. This country allowed a son of Barcelona, naturalized only at the age of 20, to be mayor, deputy, minister and prime minister. But coming to Barcelona is not a break, it is the extension of the same path, that of Europe.

For his part, François Hollande could also be a candidate in the legislative elections. The former President of the Republic could well present himself in his historic stronghold of Corrèze. He did not rule out this idea at the microphone of France Info on April 28: “I don’t want to say anything about it because I don’t want people to think that everything I’ve said so far can be related to an individual destiny”, he indicated, while affirming that he did not want to “introduce this personal question in this debate”.
