Marozsán underwent surgery last year and missed the European Championship finals in England. Now it is clear that the knee is not up to the load that playing in both club and national teams entails.

“I’m doing well in the club team but the knee is not what it used to be,” she said in a statement.

Marozsán, who lives in Lyon, France, scored one of the goals as Germany beat Sweden 2–1 in the 2016 Olympic final.

The midfielder will make his 112th and final international match against Brazil on April 11.

The WC in Australia and New Zealand will be played from July 20 to August 20. In the group stage, Germany faces Morocco, Colombia and South Korea.
