Special events this summer are putting the focus on downtown businesses in St. George, Paris and Burford.
Love Local Street Social Days will be held in each community: June 26 in St. George; July 16 in Paris and Aug. 20 in Burford. Each event runs from noon to 4 pm
“We are thrilled to work with local businesses and associations in the downtowns of St. George, Paris and Burford to offer an incredible day of shopping, dining and being entertained,” said Russell Press, Brant County’s director of economic development and tourism.
“Bring your family, friends and neighbors for a day of great shopping and dining while enjoying local talent from buskers, artists and musicians. County of Brant Library will offer activities and a heritage walking tour will also take place in the downtowns. County staff will be available.”
Press said the events will help attract visitors and promote local businesses.
“By injecting the downtowns with some added arts, culture and heritage components on these days, we are leveraging the already great shopping and dining experiences.”
After two years of the pandemic, Press said it is time to celebrate the success of the community and local businesses.
He said support is also available for businesses.
“We encourage local businesses to participate in this day and consider applying for a temporary patio or sales event.”
The temporary patio allowance program allows restaurants to apply for outdoor patio extensions for temporary use on private and public property.
And the temporary sales event program allows eligible retail businesses to apply for the use of outdoor spaces or “pop-ups.” Successful applicants can make use of both private and public property provided program requirements are met regarding accessibility.
Both programs are free.
