A nasty trick in Overwatch 2 ensures numerous multi-kills, because the combination of two specific characters is virtually impossible to survive.
With Overwatch 2, many of the existing heroes received significant overhauls, and one of the biggest changes concerns Orisa. The omnic tank has received fundamentally new abilities, making it quite powerful to stop enemies from advancing. But her ultimate ability is also devastating – when she hits targets. And there’s a trick you can use to help.
What is Orisa’s Ultimate? The Ultimate “Terra Surge” pulls all enemies within a certain radius to Orisa. Then the ability begins to charge and after the time expires, deals massive damage around Orisa. You can detonate the ability early, but then the damage will be reduced.
The difficulty here is that once the enemy characters have been pulled in, they have a few seconds to flee. So if you want to inflict maximum damage, it can happen that the enemies have already escaped from the area of effect of the ability. Therefore, you often have to fire the Ultimate prematurely and accept reduced damage.
Now how does the trick work? The “trick” is a combo with the DPS heroine Symmetra. In Overwatch 2, she still has the ability to set up a teleporter. Allies can step through it to be teleported to another location where Symmetra placed the second teleporter.
Actually, the teleporter also allows immobile characters to get to higher places, take certain shortcuts or just move behind the enemy – but with Orisa’s Ultimate there is another trick possible.
Because while Orisa is already charging her terrasurge, Symmeta can simply place the teleporter under Orisa. The counterpart then ends up with the enemies, who think they are safe for the moment.
But just before the ultimate is fully cast, Orisa then steps through the teleporter – you can do that while the ultimate is already active!
This causes quite a surprise and an almost guaranteed multiple kill, because only a few characters survive the full damage of Orisa’s Ultimate.
The trick has since made the rounds on the Overwatch subreddit, and many are trying to replicate it. This works sometimes more and sometimes less – but always makes for a lot of fun.
