Singer and actress Louane said on Wednesday that she suffered from a ruptured ovarian cyst. An “excruciating” pain that she still remembers. Focus on this complication.

A successful singer for years, Esme’s young mother regularly talks about her health problems, such as her mental disorders (Attention Deficit Disorder with or without Hyperactivity). This Wednesday, it was at the microphone of the “Small talk” podcast that Louane confided that he suffered from an ovarian cyst, which had exploded.

Cyst rupture: a complication of the ovarian cyst

Usually ovarian cysts hurt, mine exploded. I threw up. It was horrible“, revealed the singer. “It was after a charity night. I was in Aix-en-Provence, my boyfriend (the musician Florian Rossi, editor’s note) joined me in the night. It was adorable, we had the prospect of a romantic evening in Aix-en-Provence, and suddenly, it broke me in two. My boyfriend had to take me to the hospital because I couldn’t walk.”

Once there, the young woman is taken care of: “They gave me a drip of painkillers, because a cyst that explodes means it’s gone, and that’s good..”

    Cyst rupture: significant pain

If the presence of a cyst in the ovary is generally benign – in the majority of cases it regresses spontaneously – the rupture of the cyst is linked to the increase in volume of the cyst when it is liquid, to the point of causing a rupture of the shell and a flow of the liquid contained in the peritoneal cavity. This results in intense and sudden pain in the pelvic region.

The moment it explodes is excruciating. And suddenly I vomited because I was in pain, because it was excruciating as pain” confided on this subject the actress.

    Management of a ruptured cyst

The diagnosis is confirmed by an ultrasound which highlights the presence of liquid in the peritoneum (membrane of the abdomen which envelops the organs) thanks to an abdomino-pelvic ultrasound.

The treatment is essentially medical. It consists of an analgesic treatment that uses anti-inflammatories. In case of diagnostic doubt, a laparoscopy can be performed as well as in case of rupture by bleeding if they do not stop spontaneously.
