A sprinter Lotta Kemppinen was so happy after the 100-meter final of the Midsummer Games in Kuortanene that he was moved to tears. Already in the preliminaries he missed his record of 11.32, and in the finals he set a new record of 11.20.
– It feels really good. This has been expected, Kemppinen described his mood as happy.
– In my opinion, I have shown my own potential at 60 meters, and now it is starting to show at 100 meters. It feels really good, rejoiced Kemppinen, who holds the Finnish record of 60 meters in the indoor games.
26-year-old Kemppinen said that he said before the competition at home that on Saturday the time could be 11.21. He still did not expect that the prediction could come true in a race held in almost zero wind.
– We have to continue on this line of throwing such numbers out loud and running towards them, Kemppinen planned.
The Finnish record holder is having fun
Saturday’s winning time is only seven hundredths slower than Hläna to Marjamaa the current Finnish record of 11.13, set in 1983. Kemppinen says that he found his time in Marjamaa really hard.
– If there was an equally perfect run and a little more downwind, then it is no longer impossible, Kemppinen said.
Kemppinen, who is aiming for a new SE era, said that he is in contact with Marjamaa, who encourages and spars with him.
– Even now, after my first run, he told me to finish at hand, Kemppinen said.
The SE woman’s words about putting her hands forward quickly came to her mind in the last 20 meters of the final.
– It worked well, he said with a big smile.
