Lots of game on the roads right now

The number of wildlife accidents in traffic is currently between 175 and 200 each day.
This is according to the Swedish Transport Administration, which has issued warnings in several parts of the country.

At the end of May and the beginning of June, the most roe deer are born, and according to the Hunters’ Association, the peak occurs around June 5. In connection with that, last year’s young are pushed away and very wild move along the roads.

This also increases the number of accidents in traffic, and according to the Swedish Transport Administration, between 175 and 200 accidents occur per day.

– It is very much and it has increased from year to year. Then you should know that the number of cars on the roads has also increased, so the risk is always greater that something will happen, says Bengt Olsson, press manager at the Swedish Transport Administration.

Since 2017, over 60,000 wildlife accidents have occurred annually, according to statistics from the National Wildlife Accident Council.

Most accidents occur during the autumn hunting season and during the period May to June. Right now, the Swedish Transport Administration is seeing an increase in the number of calls they receive regarding wildlife accidents, and this has led to warnings in several parts of the country.
