This is some information to remember and which should be useful to the most absent-minded members of the family.
Have you lost your smartphone somewhere at home? Don’t panic. A feature available on iPhone allows you to make it ring remotely, even if it is in silent mode, completely discharged or has no reception. Here is the solution you need to know.
You should know that depending on the situation, several options allow you to make your iPhone emit a sound. The first will be useful if you have activated the “find my device” function. Indeed, thanks to the latter, you will have the advantage of being able to go, via another device, to the iCloud.com site and click on the “find my device” tab. Once your iPhone is displayed on the screen, click on “emit a sound”. If your smartphone is online, it will start to emit a sound that will gradually increase in volume, for about two minutes, even if it is in silent mode.
On the other hand, if your device is offline, you will be able to see where it is located, but it will say “sound pending”, meaning that the sound will be played the next time the device connects to a Wi-Fi or cellular network. In the meantime, you can set up an alert to be notified when the iPhone is located again. Also, if you have set up Family Sharing, you will be able to use this same “locate” function to find a family member’s lost device and make it ring.
Finally, another option available: ask Siri to help you by saying “Hey Siri, where is my iPhone?”. Siri will tell you the last known location of your phone and can even make it ring to help you find it more easily, if you ask it. Provided, here, that it is turned on.
Please note that if you have compatible AirPods, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, Apple Watch, or Beats headphones, they can also be located and play sound in the same way as your iPhone. So, enable the right options now and find your lost devices in a snap.
