The US Aid Authority Warns that it has lost control of every $ 8.2 billion has taken the road.
The authority, which has been hit very hard by President Donald Trump’s cuts, is no longer able to follow already submitted assistance.
The authority fears that the money – which corresponds to close to SEK 90 billion – has come in the wrong hands. The money that was intended as assistance and has already been sent out risks ending up with extremists or combat parties in armed conflicts, warns USAID.
Investigators at the control body that comes with the warning tells the news agency AP that they have great concern about future checks, although USAID can continue its operations in other and less form.
USAID, which has almost completely closed, has been taken over by Foreign Minister Marco Rubio who will look at whether existing aid project “puts the United States first”.
