Loreen held up to the pressure – wins the final of Melodifestivalen

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

She was tipped as favourite, and held the pressure under her 1.8 ton led screen. Loreen wins the Melodifestivalen and thus has a chance to win the Eurovision Song Contest for the second time. “Euphoria” 2012. “Tattoo” 2023. Loreen wins the Melodifestivalen for the second time, and once again gets to represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest. She has been the favorite ever since the competition in Malmö. There, a climate activist stormed the stage, Loreen had to interrupt her number and repeat it again in front of the TV viewers and the live audience. Could she handle that pressure? Many agreed that the mishap rather favored her – her nerves held and she won the heat by a good margin. Got to represent Sweden in Eurovision If Loreen were to go all the way and win the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool in May, she would become a historic Swede. The only person to have won the ESC twice before is Ireland’s Johnny Logan, and if Loreen were to repeat the feat from 2012 with “Euphoria”, she would automatically enter the schlager history books. Twelve in a row The final party at the Friends arena was kicked off by Sami Rekik, known as one half of last year’s trio Medina, who introduced the 27,000 spectators to the twelve finalists – who marched in to waving flags and brass music. Then it was full speed into the competition. Dansanta Panetoz raised the mood, fine-tuned Maria Sur calmed the tempo with her ballad and towards the end, the evening’s big favorite in advance stepped out on stage: Loreen. The cheers were huge when the former Eurovision winner performed “Tattoo”. Therefore, it was surprising that Croatia, the first of the international jury groups to report their scores, gave their twelve-pointer to Theoz and “More of you”. More than that Loreen didn’t seem to allow, because the rest of the twelve went to her “Tattoo”. Danny Saucedo, who was inducted into Melodifestivalen’s Hall of Fame, acted as an interlude.
