Galadriel star Morfydd Clark surprises with statement about Amazon’s second Lord of the Rings season
The first season of the Lord of the Rings series worked primarily to reveal the big villain of the series. Alongside Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), we finally discovered the identity of Sauron in the season finale. This made the direction of the rest of the series clear: The Rings of Power would show us how the Middle-earth villain subdues the world through the titular jewelry. But instead of just this one opponent, the second season of Amazon’s fantasy series apparently holds up, according to Clark significantly more opponents than expected ready:

What can I say about season 2? [von Die Ringe der Macht] betrayed? I would say: there are lots of new villains. That is exciting. I love one [guten] Rogue. That’s probably all I can say right now.
It’s not much that Morfydd reveals to Clark. But three words stand out from her statement: “lots of new villains“. This tells us that not only one great enemy (Sauron) is coming into action, but several dark forces are threatening Middle-earth. Incidentally, these are “new“Villains apparently not the ones we know from season 1, but fresh opponents… or renegades?
The Lord of the Rings: Who are the new villains in Amazon’s second season?
We’ve put together a few possibilities in which direction Amazon could go with the suggested villains in Season 2 – with the “new” could refer to both new Lord of the Rings characters as well as well-known characters who are now turning evil. After us last “Surprising twists and turns” have been promised for the next season, we can no longer rule out anything in our speculation about what’s to come:
