Wild Hearts will be released for PC, Xbox and PS5 in February 2023 and apparently wants to offer an alternative to Monster Hunter. A new gameplay trailer now shows how you can attack the game’s monsters.

What kind of game is this? Koei Tecmo and EA have partnered to create Wild Hearts.

The basic principle is reminiscent of Monster Hunter: As a hunter in a fantasy world shaped by feudal Japan, you should confront huge monsters, the “Kemono”.

You can rely on different things for this.

  • Various weapons with unique abilities and attack patterns
  • Prefab structures that you can conjure up out of thin air – the “Karakuri”
  • Your friends, because the game features full crossplay and co-op support.

    • How exactly such fights can look like, Wild Hearts now showed in a new gameplay video. There you can see how players rake the “Golden Tempest” – a huge saber-toothed monster.

    Monstrous Sword immediately inspires players – combat is well received

    This is what the gameplay video shows: In the fight against the Golden Tempest, among other things, the conjured structures, the “Karakuri”, can be seen. But one focus is mainly on the weapons with which the beast is fought.

  • The “Claw-Blade” is used for close combat, including fast, whirling jump attacks.
  • The “Cannon” is just that: a handy cannon that can be used to shoot fireballs at the monster. This ranges from a “simple” forward shot, to laser-like beam attacks or a mortar-type attack of practice.
  • Last but not least, the “Karakuri Staff” is used. But it doesn’t remain a small quarterstaff, but can be transformed into a monstrously huge sword if necessary.

    • Especially the last weapon, with which the hunter hits the Golden Tempest and ultimately also hands out the “Final Blow”, has impressed some players in the comments. But overall, the combat demonstration seems to convince interested parties.

    • Overall, the game seems to be trying to fill Monster Hunter’s gap, albeit with elements that set it apart from the ‘original’. It will be clear in a few weeks whether the result is convincing.

    When will Wild Hearts be released? If you’re interested in Wild Hearts, you don’t have to wait too long. The game will be released on February 17, 2023 for the PS5, Xbox Series X | S and the PC.
