There is a lot going on around the Swedish whiskey manufacturer Mackmyra.
On August 19, the company announced that they did not have enough resources to continue running the company, and Mackmyra died after 25 years in the business.
Already last year, the whiskey manufacturer notified 20 percent of its staff. Since then, several restructurings have taken place but have not been able to save Mackmyra.

Mackmyra: It happens with whiskey barrels
The announcement of the bankruptcy left many customers worried. Around 4,500 barrels have been reserved by various customers for around SEK 15,000 to 30,000.
During Tuesday, August 27, the bankruptcy trustee announced what will happen to these, something that depends on whether you are a private customer or a business customer.
“The issue is far from simple,” it says Mackmyra’s website.

When Mackmyra announced its bankruptcy, something happened. At Systembolaget, customers began flocking to get hold of whiskey from the bankrupt company.
All of a sudden, Mackmyra’s whiskey had ended up under the category “limited edition products” in Systembolaget’s order range.

That’s how long the sale will last
News24 have spoken with Mackmyra’s bankruptcy trustee Emma Berglund Uväng about the unexpected success.
– There has been an almost explosive increase, says Berglund Uväng.
She believes that the influx of customers can be linked to the announcement of the bankruptcy.
– There are probably many who want to take the chance to secure a Mackmyra bottle.
The customers who want to buy a bottle of Mackmyra home can, however, breathe. The company will be around for a while longer.
– We deliver as usual to Systembolaget and also bottle bottles during the operation of the bankruptcy, so we do what we can to fill the shelves, says Berglund Uväng to Nyheter24.

Regarding Mackmyra’s future, the bankruptcy trustee has received a number of offers. She tells Nyheter24 that she believes in a sale.
– It is an exciting case and a very strong brand. It has aroused great interest and meant a large number of contacts for us. We now have a sales process underway and have drawn up a tender document. We hope and believe in a sale of the business.
