If Turkey and Hungary take a long time to approve Sweden’s membership in NATO, it could mean a security threat for Sweden, says ÖB Micael Bydén.

– In the short perspective, I assess that the consequences for safety are limited. If it were to be a longer period, we’re talking years, then I don’t believe that it will be more complicated, says Micael Bydén to P1 Morgon.

According to ÖB, a longer period would cause Sweden to be separated from Finland in defense planning.

– The clearest part is about going into NATO’s sharp operational planning. We will not be able to participate as a partner country there, says Bydén.
