A woman in need of special housing according to the LSS had to wait almost two years before she got a place to live. According to Luleå municipality, it was due to a lack of space, which the administrative court does not see as an acceptable reason.

Now the municipality has to fine one million kroner to the state, local media reports.

In December 2021, a woman was granted a residence with special service under the Support and Service Act (LSS). But it was only in November 2023, almost two years later, that she got a place to live. This despite the fact that the person concerned had an extensive need for support.

In a statement, Luleå municipality believes that the housing was delayed because there was no suitable housing to offer. A reason that was not acceptable according to the administrative law, which among other things points to a lack of planning.

The court takes a particularly serious view of the fact that the woman has had extensive difficulties in her daily life during the waiting period. The sentence can be appealed.
