The Swedish Transport Administration has issued several warnings for stationary trucks. Partly on the E12 north of Tärnaby, and partly on road 1116 where trucks have been standing on a hill near Joesjö. At around 8 p.m., a kitchen fire also occurred.
– There is a lot of snow on the road and it is slippery. There are several trucks that have been left standing along the road and a car has crashed into one of the trucks from behind, says Mikael Åsholm, who is an emergency operator at the Mittnorrland rescue region.
No information on personal injuries
No one is said to be injured, but several queues have formed at the site. At around 10 p.m., the emergency services worked to direct passenger traffic onward.
– The emergency services run convoys with cars. The larger trucks are not getting through right now, says alarm operator Mikael Åsholm.
It is unclear when traffic can flow as usual again.
– It is very difficult to estimate, but we are waiting for resources from the Swedish Transport Administration, he says.
– There are many cars and trucks that are stationary. It’s a long wait.
E12 is switched off during the night
The rescue service had resources from Tärnaby and Hemavan on site at 10 p.m. Some resources that were alerted have been able to return.
During the night, the Swedish Transport Administration will also have to close the E12 a bit further north, at the height of Kåtaviken just before the Norwegian border, to recover a truck from a previous accident.
– The latest I have heard is that they have salvagers on site from Norway who have started to make their way to move vehicles, says Maria Ahlin, emergency operator at the Mittnorrland rescue region, at around 11 p.m.
No one is reported to be injured.
