Cross-country skier Frida Karlsson has appeared on the soccer field for Remsle UIF.
Now she sponsors the club’s supporters.
– It has always meant a lot to me, says Karlsson to the newspaper Ångermanland.
Usually found Frida Karlsson, 24, in the ski tracks in a pair of cross-country skis. But during the skiing off-season, she has on a couple of occasions instead laced up her football boots and played with the football club Remsle UIF from Sollefteå, Frida’s hometown.
Frida’s nice gesture
The last time Karlsson played with the club was last season, when they were in division 3. Now the association’s first team will play in the qualifiers to be moved up to division 1. This means a trip to Luleå for the team, when they face Bergnäset on Saturday.

Between Sollefteå and Luleå it is over five hours by car. But in order for Remsle to bring some supporters to the away qualifying match, Frida Karlsson, together with Sollefteå municipality, has sponsored a supporters’ bus.
– Having the support of the audience and people back home has always meant a lot to me, I think it will be like that for the girls now the coming weekends also on the soccer field, says Karlsson to the newspaper Ångermanland.
“The team in my heart”
The 24-year-old hopes that her fine gesture will be repeated this winter when it is time for Frida to compete.
– I am also looking forward to buses with cheering supporters heading west towards Östersund and the World Cup competitions on the second weekend in December, she says.

But that is of course not the only reason why Karlsson has chosen to do the good deed.
– Remsle is and always will be the football team in my heart. I look forward to being in the starting eleven again sometime in the future, she says.
For Frida Karlsson and the other cross-country skiers, the season starts on November 24, when the first World Cup competition takes place in Ruka, Finland.
