Aeolian Hall, backed by sponsors McFarlan Rowlands Insurance Brokers and D&S Pianos, is offering prizes totaling $25,000.

“Let’s invest in our music community any way we can during this difficult time, showcase its creative talent and celebrate its recent UNESCO City of Music designation,” said Clark Bryan, Aeolian Hall’s executive and artistic director.

“It is also a way for our city to celebrate our talented creatives and focus on inspiration during this especially challenging time.”

The contest is open to local composers in all music genres and the songs must reflect the themes of “love, beauty and home,” Bryan said.

A jury of music industry professionals will review contest submissions. The deadline to submit is March 31 and prize winners will be announced during Canadian Music Week that runs April 19 to 23 this year.

The grand prize winner will receive $2,000, a recording session valued at $4,000, a multitrack video recording valued at $1,500, a live audience performance worth $2,000, a $500 photo shoot and marketing and career mentoring also valued at $1,500.

Second prize is valued at $8,000 and consists of $1,000, a recording session valued at $4,000, a $1,500 video recording session, $500 photo shoot and marketing and career mentoring valued at $1,000.

Third prize includes a cash prize of $500, a $4,000 recording session, $500 photo shoot and $500 worth of marketing and career mentoring.
