The humane society issued a plea earlier this month for more than $367,000 in donations by the end of December to make sure the $500,000 vet clinic, for which it already had $133,000 in funds, isn’t delayed when the new campus opens in November next year .

As of Friday morning, the campaign has raised $106,000 of its $367,000 goal.
The agency says its animals are waiting three to six times longer to be cleared for adoption compared to other humane societies, in part because some animals are being sent to veterinary clinics as far away as Sarnia and Stratford. An on-site veterinary clinic is industry-standard for humane societies, and London is one of the last cities of its size in Canada not to have such care, the agency said earlier this month.

Tea humane society broke ground on the Old Oak animal campus in May 2022, with the total cost set at $21 million. being the new home of the agency and its in-house veterinary clinic, it also will allow for camps for youth to spend time with animals, school tours, a dog kennel for pet stays, training programs and a cat-themed café.
