(Finance) – “We must listen to the voice of African governments: after several discussions, I find in them the need to have the solution to the problems of their nations which see this strong emigration. They ask us for help with an approach that is not predatory or charitable but collaborative, which makes their economies and agriculture grow more than any other sector”. This was said by the Minister of Agriculture, Francesco Lollobrigida, speaking in Bari via video link at the Festival of the Regions. “The Mattei Plan aims precisely at this – he added – and the first results are already visible in recent months: there are operations that do not foresee a disadvantage for us but the possibility of economic growth of the nations with which we collaborate”, underlined the minister
“We agree that we need people who choose to come to Italy and contribute to the growth of the country as we have done in other times”.
“We need rules for legal immigration – he added – and not an approach that involves a lack of rules, which is the denial of civil life. We have reorganized the flows decree, which was not applied in an orderly and organized way but was in practice an amnesty – he recalled – we have made bilateral and multilateral agreements for the training abroad of those who want to come to Italy and work, and we have increased the quotas of regular immigration like no Government has ever done before”
Lollobrigida also underlined that “the framework of the national water supply must be rethought, it is needed have a strategic vision because events today are anything but emergency, they are cyclical, such as drought”
