Lollapalooza Paris 2023: recap and photos of the festival

Lollapalooza Paris 2023 recap and photos of the festival

LOLLAPALOOZA PARIS. The Parisian version of the Lollapalooza festival was back on July 21, 22 and 23 for a fifth edition, at the ParisLongchamps racecourse.

The fifth edition of the Lollapalooza Paris festival will have been explosive. According to the event’s Twitter account, 170,000 festival-goers gathered on the lawns of the ParisLonchamps racecourse for this extended three-day edition, Friday July 21, Saturday July 22 and Sunday July 23, 2023. For this fifth year, LollaParis had bet on headliners defying all competition.

We will long remember the exceptional performances of Lil Nas X and Rosalía: the American singer and performer unleashed the public with impeccable scenography and dancers, when the Spanish singer gave a live lesson, excelling in singing, as in dancing.

If we are still wondering what justifies Kendrick Lamar in question, the name obviously not making the stage performance, we will have been seduced by the show ofAya Nakamuracarried by an acquired crowd, or that of the phenomenon group of South Korean rap, Stray Kids, which closed the first evening of celebration, in front of a hysterical crowd.

The story of Lollapalooza

The Lollapalooza festival was created in 1991 by Perry Farrel, the leader of the band Jane’s Addiction. The event has established itself on the American continent as the benchmark rock, punk and heavy metal festival, with editions in the United States, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Berlin. The festival is bought by LiveNation, a multinational considered to be the biggest organizer of musical events in the world. In France, the American company already organizes three festivals, the Main Square from Arras, I Love Tech of Montpellier and the DownloadFestival of Paris, created in 2016. “Live Nation wanted to continue to develop its activity on festivals in France” assured Angelo Gopee who does not however speak of competition.

“I’m not sure that the Vieilles Charrues, or even Solidays, We Love Green, Rock en Seine bring artists like David Guetta, Calvin Harris or Ariana Grande” he defends himself before deciding: “Between all these festivals, there is a place for us, with artists that we are the only ones able to offer”. Historically, the Lollapalooza has been the springboard for rock giants such as Rage Against The Machine, Nine Inch Nails, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam. “The Lollapalooza is the biggest festival in the world, which brings together 120,000 spectators a day in Chicago every summer,” he explains.
