LoL: A badass toplane champion gets younger and younger with every new skin

League of Legends has various skin series, such as Porcelain, High Noon or Star Guardian. But some players are annoyed that a certain champion appears to be getting younger with each new skin.

Which champion is it about? New Porcelain skins will soon be available in League of Legends, just as there are already skins in this series for Kindred and Lux, for example. But players noticed something strange about it, or rather, about a particular champion: we’re talking about Darius.

The new porcelain skins are supposed to come with patch 14.4, including one for Darius. An obvious Darius fan expressed his displeasure on the Reddit platform. In his opinion, Riot Games seems to be leaning toward making Darius younger with each fresh skin.

Stop trying to make Darius younger!

What is being criticized? NimblecloudsArt refers to the original splash art by Darius, which, according to him, showed an experienced and tough general with an angry expression, a streak of gray hair and damaged armor.

With the latest skins, he argues, not only his physical appearance has changed, but also his identity and character traits. There is criticism that Darius is no longer the tough, experienced general, but rather seems more like an overly ambitious and arrogant teenager.

How does the community govern? There are a lot of comments under the post, we have summarized a few for you:

  • Raigheb writes: If you were to ever ask every single Darius player: Which skin series would you like a skin from, not a single one would ever say: Porcelain!
  • TheLadForTheJob writes: Just use the default skin, bro.
  • PorkyMan12 writes: 5 more skins and Darius will be 12 years old.
  • NonTokenisableFungi writes: Look what they did to Xin Zhao. Anime guy in all his splash arts, but in the game he still looks like a slightly depressed middle-aged man, as his story dictates.
  • Cirenione writes: Well, skins are often a reinterpretation of a champion. In this case, Darius as Champion is the same in his base form, and the skin represents him in his younger form in a different universe.[…]
  • Fyzz51: Champions are not necessarily the same age across skins, and this has been the case for some time.[…]
  • valraven38: Can we stop taking skins so seriously? They are meant to be like alternate universes or variations and have no impact on the champions themselves.[…]
  • What else is he criticizing? The criticism of the new skins continues. NimblecloudsArt questions the logic behind skins like Porcelain Darius and Lunar Beast Darius, wondering why Darius is suddenly wearing Porcelain-style armor or tech sneakers. For some fans, these designs seem to distort the character of Darius and, according to them, do not fit the original vision of the champion.

It is emphasized that while he is happy that Darius is getting new skins and attention from Riot Games, he wishes that Riot Games would align more with his character fantasy as a veteran general.
