For a getaway, we treat ourselves to a unique destination that can be experienced like a history book. It was during the Renaissance that the Loire Valley, elected favorite residence of the kings of France, experienced its golden age. In a completely new style that we owe to the Italian artists invited by François I, the royal castles were remodeled, like Chambord and Blois, while others were built like that of Chambord, Azay-le- Rideau or Chenonceau. The Loire Valley, which is distinguished by an exceptional concentration of Renaissance castles, is listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
