The police have reported the death of police chief Mats Löfving to the Swedish Work Environment Agency, reports SVT Nyheter.

– I have made the report according to standard practice and as Mats Löfving’s boss, says Mattias Wahlstedt, head of office and deputy head of department at the legal department at the police, to SVT.

Löfving was reassigned to the legal department in December.

– I know as little as everyone else about what actually happened. But I cannot rule out that the death is related to work and that is why I have made a report, says Mattias Wahlstedt.

Mats Löfving was found dead in his home on Wednesday evening. Earlier on the same day, an investigation into whether he had acted badly concerning former intelligence chief Linda Staaf had been presented.
