Löfving’s colleague: “He knew what needed to be done”

She remembers her colleague as a serious and fair leader.

– Leading the police in the Stockholm region is a huge job. You can’t be some kind of “myspys” uncle, but it’s about really leading. And he knew what needed to be done, says Asp.

Shocked by the death notice

When Anne Asp texted Löfving after the press conference where the results of the internal investigation into misconduct within the police leadership were presented, she received an immediate reply.

– Then I felt that he will fix this, it will be all right, says the commissioner.

She was convinced that the pressure around Löfving would ease, until her daughter called on Wednesday evening and told her that the police chief had been found dead.

– That’s why his passing was even more shocking. It was completely incomprehensible. The first thing I thought of was the children, his mother and the rest of the family that he always talked about. This is so terrible for them, she says.
