The county administrative boards have not agreed on the question of how many wolf districts there should be in central and southern Sweden. It is about 25 wolves that neither the southern nor the middle area wants, reports P4 Sjuhärad and P4 Malmöhus.
– The atmosphere has certainly been a bit strained, says Nils Carlsson, head of the species and nature unit at the county administrative board in Skåne, to the radio about the governors’ discussions.
Today’s minimum wolf level is 300 individuals. According to the current minimum levels, the northern predator management area must have ten wolves, the middle 285 and the southern five.
The middle management area wants to see more wolves in the southern area compared to today. But 60 wolves is enough – the 85 wolves proposed is too many, according to the southern management area.
– The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency can simply put its foot down and distribute the last wolves, says Nils Carlsson.
