SaiPa is facing a big evening today in her home hall at Lappeenranta Kisapuisto Park. The big and successful IFK in Helsinki is one defeat from summer vacation.
Mikko Petman, one of the key players in the home team, describes the atmosphere of the Lappeenranta locker room before meeting Tuesday.
– It’s really great. These playoffs haven’t been played for a while here. Of course, there is an enthusiastic feeling in the group.
SaiPa has played a long run of the playoffs. Playoffs 1. In the round it fought out the Turku Ball Club. TPS led the series already 2-0 and was victorious from the cut, but SaiPa got up.
– I think that first series gave us self -confidence. We went a bit on the bridge, but we dug ourselves up. The journey is still long, but we have been able to improve all the time.
In particular, Petman outlines SaiPa’s furry gaming as a strong area of yellow blacks close to the top four chess. That’s what he wants to see on Tuesday at Kisapuisto Park.
– We skate hard and cause difficulties for the opponent. It is one of our biggest weapons and we will continue to use it.
SaiPa has an exceptional winning streak in the playoffs. It has won six matches in the tube.
For locals, the success of their own team is, of course, a big deal. A possible medal game would be a really extensive achievement.
– The city sees yellow black everywhere. The cars have tickets fluttering and the mood is great. It’s great to see this whole community behind us, says Petman, a Lappeenranta breeder with a smile.
